How to choose a photographer Choosing a photographer will greatly depend on what type of photography you require. If you need a photographer to take photographs of your wedding, you would of course require a wedding photographer who is more of an artistic photographer in the way he or she takes and processes photographs, where as a journalistic photographers carries different cameras and who's photos are more "real to life". In any case, you should always feel comfortable with your photographer especially if you have be be infront of their camera. However there are always exceptions to the rule and this is particularly the case if you are purchasing art that you may want to move you emotionally. Photographic Equipment - Digital Photography In this day and age, digital photography is becoming more popular with every day and the debate between film v's digital photography goes on. Now, consumers can purchase a Digital DSLR camera for only a few hundred dollars and it isn't uncommon for it to come in a 2 lens kit. Most modern digital cameras are now becoming so advanced that they generally out perform film cameras in low light photography due to digital camera sensor advances. Ultimately this makes even amature photographer produce great digital photographs in most situations and lighting conditions. Photographic Equipment - Film Photography Film photography is becoming less popular, however there are still a place for film camera, as a photograph taken with a film camera has a certain look and fell about the photographs. There are a few different type of films available such as Large Format photography, Medium Format photography and the ever popular 35mm photography. Fundamentals Of Photography ISO - Also known as film speed, ISO actually stands for International Organization for Standardization and indicates the value of film or digital sensor sensitivity to light. In the world of film photography, a high ISO results in film grain, which is shown as tiny, black, speckled, randomly placed dots in a photograph which are generally frown upon. However, some fine art photographers purposely used a high film speed (ISO) so that film grain would be prevalent to give the photograph a certain mood or feel and add to the photos artistic value. Unlike film photography, a hight ISO setting can produce a similar result as film grain, however it is called "noise" and can been seen as white and coloured, squarish pixilated dots and has to date NO artistic value. A sign of a quality digital cameras can produce photographs taken low light conditions with little or no visable noise within the photograph. |
